Probate is a court process with its own deadlines, notices, and forms, and it lands on families at the worst possible time. I guide the personal representative (what many people call the executor) through the whole process, from the first filing to the final distribution, and I handle probates in every county in Oregon.
Probate Administration Throughout Oregon
From my Lake Oswego office, I assist personal representatives with probate matters in every Oregon county. Uncontested probates can often be handled entirely remotely and generally do not require the personal representative to appear in court. This allows me to guide clients through the probate process without requiring travel to my office. If the court requires an appearance or a matter becomes contested, I explain what is needed and help clients prepare.
What I handle:
- Opening the estate, with or without a will, even when the death was years ago and the property was never transferred
- Step-by-step guidance on the personal representative’s duties: the estate bank account, the tax ID number, notices, deadlines, and what to do when something unexpected comes up
- Inventories, annual and final accountings, fee petitions, and every court filing in between
- Creditor claims, disputes among heirs, and contested estates where the other side has hired a lawyer
- Working closely with the estate’s CPA on the Oregon estate tax return (OR-706), the decedent’s final income tax returns, and the estate’s fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041)
- The simplified affidavit process for smaller estates that qualify, so the family can skip full probate
- Closing the estate: final accounting, petition for distribution, receipts from the heirs, and the judgment that ends the case
