Tax Litigation and IRS Disputes

Back to practice areas

I am admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court, and I hold a master’s degree in tax law (LL.M.). When you, your estate, or your business has a dispute with the IRS or the Oregon Department of Revenue, I handle it from the first notice through trial.

What I handle:

  • Audits and examinations, including estate tax and gift tax audits
  • IRS Appeals, and petitions to the United States Tax Court when the IRS issues a notice of deficiency
  • Collection matters: liens, levies, installment agreements, and collection due process hearings
  • Federal tax liens on real property, including nominee, alter ego, and transferee liability claims against family members and surviving spouses
  • Penalties, including reasonable cause defenses and first-time abatement
  • Oregon Department of Revenue disputes, including estate tax audits and appeals to the Oregon Tax Court
  • Tax problems that come with an estate or trust: unfiled returns, years assessed after a death, and getting the fiduciary properly recognized by the IRS
